cluster problem

Default cluster problem

just a hope quick question

i went on a 2 week trip when i came home found some one broke into my truck they stole the nav radio set up i do not know why but the cluster and glove box tore out also, some one told they must of been looking for brain of gps i don't know but cluster was on ground the back of it busted looks like step on i found another cluster but mileage off it has 9.000 something my truck had 24.589 on it i could get cluster reprogrammed is the mileage stored any place else want it to match what i had do not want any trouble later or put any sticker on door i have a 2015 gmc 1/2 ton 1500 with a 5.3

Take it to the dealer, make an insurance claim. Your truck is extremely sophisticated and difficult to work with electrically speaking. I don't suggest this be a project that you try and tackle yourself. Also General Motors says modules in new vehicles cannot be swapped like the old trucks, since the new body style, you can't swap clusters and modules out like that, they're far too complex now.

thanks these are not back yard workable to a point it is just that me and my insurance co i had a lot of problems in the past and just trying to stay away from then i just need a little more time before i start with then[get back in there good graces]

Well, I guess I don't know what to tell you then. As far as I know, there is no real good way to get a swapped cluster to work, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. Perhaps someone else here knows how to do it?

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern
A technician may comment of a no start or another concern after swapping an ECM or other modules from one vehicle to another.

Recommendation/Instructions
The Global Architecture electrical system associated with these vehicles does not allow controller swaps between vehicles. Swapping ECMs or other modules (including Radio, BCM, EBCM, SDM, TCM, ECC (HVAC), EPS, HPCM, & IPC) between two vehicles with the Global Architecture electrical system will result in damaging both controllers (A NO START CONDITION WILL OCCUR ON BOTH VEHICLES IF THESE MODULES ARE SWAPPED) due to the new vehicle security code protocol (environment) starting with the 2010 MY GDS applications.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
