Default Dash cluster out

I like to hear your diagnosis. 2003 Suburban w/5.3, runs fine, dash lights work, instrument panel gives no readings. No speedo, trip, oil pressure, engine temp, or gas......everything is out but the lights.

Cluster came back on, however, this may be an intermittent event and I would still like to hear your thoughts.

Just a guess but maybe it has something to do with the Hypertech programmer cause when you flash the computer with it, the guage needles go back and forth a few times. Maybe it needs reset or there is simply a glitch in the ECU?

Good idea, J. But it's not my truck, sorry, I should have specified. It's my friends vehicle. The only aftermarket piece on his ride is a K&N filter.

Oh sorry. A bad ground? Bad contact on the board? I had lighting probs with my dash cause the contacts for the bulbs were junked up, but never had jumpy guages before. If its runnin ok I don't see it being the ECU, but you never know.

Not a recall.....if problems persist the cluster is $350 plus another $150 to install and program the cluster. Thanks for all your input.

GM DOES have a campaign on their clusters,my coworker just got a letter from Chevrolet about his 2003, they are replacing them for free depending on your mileage(BULL****,they know they had a problem). They had a real serious problem with the damn things.
