Default 1989 Sliverado 3/4 ton with full floating rear axle

Hello,

I'm helping a friend to replace the rear drums and brake lines on a 1989 Sliverado 3/4 Ton 2500, with a 350 V8.

He tried to replace the rear drums a while back and the auto parts store gave him a pair of drums without an additional plate on the drum. I told him he may have to remove the plate and install it to the new drum?

If you look at the brake drum the studs, plate and drum are one piece. However it's possible the plate with studs is a separate piece?

I think the difference is on other brake drums the plate with the studs attached fits inside the drum where the studs go through holes in the brake drum so the wheel fits directly on the drum.

There are no studs going through this brake drum as the studs are attached to the plate on the outside of the drum.

Here are some pics of the rear axle which doesn't have any id plates..

I'm assuming it's a 1 ton full float rear axle same as used on the 3500?
