I am the New
Hello forum members,
my name is Brian and I am new here in the forum.
I am from Germany and I am 43 years old.
My hobby is to wrench on old rusty cars and get them back on the road.
I am currently restoring a 1970 Chevrolet C10 Stepside, this will be a frame off restoration and I am currently putting the body back together. The only thing missing is the front end.
My favorite is a special vehicle though.
I still have a 1966 Chevrolet C60 Firetruck.
This one is just technically completely renewed.
All lines (fuel, water, vacuum, brakes, hoses, cables/electrics and lighting equipment.
This is also my problem at the moment. The project is not going any further because I can't find parts for the brake system and hope that there is someone here who can help me or give me a secret tip on how to get the parts.
The search for the wheel brake cylinders is hopeless. I have the following installed:
Drum brake wheel cylinder for rear axle twin tires
there are two per side (top/bottom)
Model Delco Moraine 5467726
1 1/2 inch
It is also difficult to find the master brake cylinder because it has a large diameter:
Master brake cylinder with clutch cylinder
installed part Wagner Lockheed FF 54846
DUAL BORE SIZE 1 3/4" & 1 1/8"
PORT SIZES 1/2 20 1/4 28
One more question about the brake shoes. Which ones go in there?
Brake drum diameter: 15 in
Brake shoe width: 4 in
Does that mean I need brake shoes 15x4?
I can't find those anywhere either unfortunately.
I don't want this project to fail. When the Chevy is running again, it should be used for good purposes.
I hope you can help me.
Many thanks and greetings from Germany
Brian
