engine wants to die after it is started. security light comes on.

 

You didn't give us much information like is it still drivable or how long it's been doing this but here's a place to start. The usual stuff first. Has it had a good tune up lately? How's the air and fuel filters? If those things are OK, suggest you check the computer for any codes. The computer knows all and it's a lot faster (and safer) then guessing.
