my check engine light came on so i went down to to auto parts store and the told me what the problem was so i bought the parts and fixed it but now the light is stuck on and i have emissions soon and if its on it wont pass, is there anthing i can do to manually shut the light off?

 

you can turn off your engine light by disconnecting the battery on the truck and then pumping the brake pedal 3 to 4 times. i cant remember which. this worked for me on my 96 sonoma. apparently it also works on many other GM vehicles.

 

You don't have to pump the brake. Just disconnect the negative terminal from the battery for about a minute or so. That resets the ECM, but if you still have an issue the light will come back on.

 

what was the code that caused the light to come on ?
