What year did s10's start getting cd players?
I have a 96 s10 with tape player. When did Chevy start putting cd players in s10's? Can i convert it, easily? By getting a cd player out of first year installed vehicle?
Thanks, I did what I didn't want to do......I bought an aftermarket. I had to go back to wal-mart missing parts like wiring harness. I bought factory plug in at Best buy and a stereo install kit at Best buy's......Looks like wrong kit, even though best buy's employee insisted he look in my truck to match correct kit. The installkit booklet doesn't have 96 s10 in it. Now I must go back to best buy. This has been a 16hour project. I didn't see any factory cd players, at Salvage yard. Today= Nightmare.
Best Buy employee seemed like he didn't want to work. I was bothering him w/ questions.

I installed stereos for years and they used to offer more vehicle specific install kits which are still available, but most of these large department stores like Best Buy try to save money by selling one kit that will fit many years and models. Most of them end up being quite flimsy even when installed correctly. You may want to go to a car stereo specific shop and ask for a better install kit. I assume by your name that you are a Suzuki fan...I am too! I have had some sick Busa's and just sold my 07 GSX-R750 to fund a new project. I found a CD player on eBay that would fit your truck but they wanted $170...thats ridiculous! Good Luck!
