I have had an annoying rattle coming from the passenger side of my '02 1500 for a long time. I just recently figured out that the problem is a result of the small speaker (tweeter I guess) is not attached, just hanging by its wires, and is rattling against the speaker grille on the passenger side door.

Anyone have detailed instructions for removing the grille so I can get in there and re-mount the speaker, then reinstall the grille so it doesn't look like my 5 year-old did the job? I don't see any easy way to remove it and I don't want to bend it all up.

Any suggestions appreciated...

 

remove the whole door panel...then you really need a new tweeter..but you may be able to attatch it back somehow

 

Ugh, really? How hard is that (and do you have a pointer to any instructions? Pictures? etc.?)? Having done similar on other vehicles, I kind of dread the thought of removing the entire panel. They never seem to go back on right.

 

nah..easy.

remove the...

snap-on panel around the handle
door lock slider piece..pop it out.
the triangle thing behind the mirror.
carefully pry up the window switch,,unplug the connectors.

now..MOST have TWO 7mm screws..(some have 3)....one behind that lock slider,and one under the pull handle...(a third would be at the bottom of panel).

now..LIFT UP the panel...it "hooks" in..DO NOT pull it toweards you..lift it straight up.
undo the lite bulb in the little safety lite

I'm thinking I can probably figure out a way to reconnect/reattach/glue/duct tape that tweeter back in place. Hopefully it is not damaged from so long of just dangling by the wires!

yeah..when they are in warranty,we replace the tweeter...out of warranty,I can usually rig something to hold it in.
