I have a new 2006 Crew Cab Silverado with less than 10,000 miles. The suspension is too soft. If I hit a speed bump at low speeds the truck bounces way too much. It's a truck for crying out loud! How can I stiffen up th suspension without it costing a lot of money? Edlebrock shocks? Lift kit?

Adjust the front torsion bars. Under neath the truck you will see two long bars one on both sides of the front end that go along the side of the cab up to the suspension. Using the proper socket or adjustable you can turn each bolt either way, you will see one way will lower the front end of the truck creating softer ride and one way will raise the front end creating a stiffer ride and more front end ground clearance. Make sure when you turn the bolt you turn each bolt the same amount in the same direction to prevent alignment problems. You can gain 2-3inches in the front end safely, and will level the truck out. You can feel an imediate difference in the stiffness of the ride as well.

Adjusting the torsion bars will also cause you to wear out bearing, and your tires will wear uneven as well, so I would not do it. New shocks will make a big difference, you can even get the Rancho adjustable ones to adjust it like you like.
