Default 08 Silverado

Hey, I just got a 08 Silverado about a month ago. It has the 5.3 and its 2WD. Extended cab LT. I plan on using it all through my Army career. Most of my fam rolls in GM and I have never had a sour expierience with them so I plan on going as far as my truck will take me. I have no plans to do anything extreme like dropping it or some tricked out interior, I feel that the layout of a truck should always be what is most practical. Though I have no 4WD and I know that sometimes you need, with the amount that it snow compared to the amount that it doesn't, I would be spending more money on gas plus I would be more tempted to go out and play and thats when stuff breaks. There I have said my piece please feel free to let me know what you think and what all I should do to my truck. I have thought about a tonneu cover or a camper shell. Other things that have come to mind are the window visors. I want some good all season tires for my 20" wheels, give me some good suggestions. Also I would like to know the best place to get some proper fitting seat covers. Let me know and please don't hold back on my truck but please hold back on the spelling thank you.

I have an '08 also and so far, it's the best truck I have ever had. Mine came with everything I wanted except the Line-X spray in bedliner. This is the third truck I've had with it. Good luck with your new truck.

i HATE HATE HATE camper shells personally. tonneau covers are nice, but i'd recommend one of the low profile sliding covers. my dad has one on his '10 silverado and its the best of both worlds, because if you need to haul something tall you can easily access the bed. vent visors are very convenient and functional but dont look good, so thats just personal preference. i've had 2wd, its not so bad if you know what you're doing. navigated a 12 inch snow storm with all terrains and no issues.

Thanks for the imput, I am not the biggest fan of camper shells but I have seen some trucks that look good with them. I want a tool box so I think what will end up happening is that I am going to just get a spray in bed liner and a tool box and call it good. The only reason why I like vent visors is because I smoke and when it rains and I am going to be in the truck for a while I tend to hot box it and that takes a while to air all the smoke out after words. Maybe a brush gaurd but thats going to be an expensive addition.

Were are you stationed at? Now what do you plan on doing with your truck? Depending on what you want do to with it will determine what suggestions a person might suggest for you to consider. My suggestions are CAI, exhaust, TUNE, underdrive pulleys, long tube headers, tonneau cover. Not a toolbox; they get broke into all the time. Oh and a good set of tires when you wear out the factory crap tires. If you are running the streets and highways all the time then I would look into Michelins MS2.

that just kinda depends. i've had one in a truck not even bolted down or locked most of the time for over three years with no trouble, and my current setup for about a year with no theft... depends on the region i guess lol

Well, when it comes to those exhaust and all that stuff I would like it only to improve performance and MPG. I am not after a hot rod. I really like tool boxs and here there is a very small chance of a break in. I do drive alot I have put almost 3k miles on my truck in about a week and a half. I have BFGs on my truck right now and they are pretty new, on my last truck I have michelins and I didnt like them because they cost so damn much. I want to level the truck but not by lowering the rear but by lifting up the truck along with some stiffer off road suspension. I live in KS so a little more ground clearane and some rancho shocks or something I believe are in order. let me know what you think and let me know of people that have done this or something simaler thank you.
