Default 09 front end noise.

09 Sierra SLE. extend. cab 4x4. 5.3 flexfuel eng.
After last weeks cold snap, a groaning crunching noise comin' from front end. Have Service traction control, service stabilitrak, warnings as well as ABS light on. First thought it was snow and ice build up in the front end, but that's not the case. Headed to dealer on Mon. Just lookin' for ideas what it might be.

Maybe blowed up the front axle. Does it make the noise when you're in 4x4 or 2wd?

Maybe an ABS wire was broken or something. The groaning might be from the ABS being activated or something like that ... would have to pull all the codes to see what's going on.

Noise front end could be a number of things... Wheel hub bearing causing your ABS modual to become misaligned.

thanks guys, it does it for about 2-3 minutes when you first start to drive, in 4 or 2 wheel drive. After the initial couple minutes it seems normal, but I still get the warnings. Got rid of a 23 yr. old Toyota for this, maybe I shouldn't have....lol.

Default problem solved

Thanks for the replies guys. It was a right front hub/bearing assembly and ABS sensor.

Sweet! Thanks for coming back and letting us know.

Did you end up changing it out on your own, or did you take it somewhere for service?
