Question 1941 chevy truck restomod

I am building a "new" restomod truck;
- 1941 body
- 2000 Tahoe 4wd chassis and steering column and complete wiring harness
- 4.8 L, 4l60e transmission\transfer case
- have deleted ABS and BCM modules
- using aftermarket gages and speedometer, control relays
I want to use the factory cruise control, but having troubles with wiring the VSS buffer = can I delete the buffer and wire VSS directly to PCM, and still retain 4wd shift controls and cruise operation? There are more wires on buffer unit that are not on wiring diagrams, kinda lost! My last build was a 2002 5.3L with 700R4 trans, trans manual shift only, VSS signal went to PCM and tapped that for speedo, no cruise.
Also, don't know how to wire-up Tahoe 4wd selector switch without buffer unit = is this possible? If not, I need help with buffer wiring diagrams = color codes are wrong on any Tahoe diagrams I've found so far, but 2000 Silerado diagram for cruise was correct wire colors.
any help appreciated!
