1985 Stereo
 

What stereo or what type would fit in a 1985 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton? I was thinking a CD player with FM/AM radio that also has a hookup for an Mp3 player. Thanks :)

There are websites that will allow you to put in your vehicle to get an exact fit for a radio. They will also show pics.

A 1985 GMC is made to take a older style 2 knob but they don't make a 2 knob CD player. If your not afraid to cut the dash it is fairly easy to cut out for a DIN sized CD player. Once that is done any DIN sized CD player will fit.

I took the old radio that was in it out today (it didn't work, the wires were fried) and i either wanted to cut the dash to fit a pioneer or something like that or get a nice cassette player that would fit. Where could i find a cassette player that is in good shape that would fit the knob holes? thanks guys

Check out LMC Truck out of Kansas. They sell a number of modern stereo systems that fit the original dash, and run a seperate 10 CD changer, they run about $350, but are really nice units. They look retro for the year of your truck but are all modern electronics.

I know the speakers don't look like much... but i have good speakers laying around somewhere. does that look like an alright radio/cassette? because i could plug my MP3 into the jack on it. Tell me what you think. thanks :D

Doesn't look too bad, but always been my experience that you get exactly what you pay for.....in other words, save up your hard earned $ and get a good unit once, and not have to replace a crappy unit many times....

Now when it comes to power.....get a good amp. The highest wattage you can afford. I am one of those that absolutely hate that pounding crap you hear when you sit an an intersection from the overly loud stereos, but power means clarity of sound, not just volume. Good power and good speaker will give great CLARITY at low volumes....

I live in a small town and yet people still manage to play that pounding whatever it is. I wouldn't even call it music. Those stereos from LMC Truck look very nice, but they are a bit expensive. I can't seem to find a good two shaft cassette player with the mp3 plug in it. That link is the first one I've found. Let me know if you come across an alright one with mp3 plug. What do you think would end up happening to that linked radio after awhile? Like what would go out on it? Thanks
