Default 1988 gmc sierra 1500

I have a dead 1988 gmc sierra 1500 4x4 sitting in my driveway (engine lock-up from the oil filter falling off while driving which I find kinda hard to believe since I drove it at least 70 mile prior to letting my brother in-law borrow it). I'm not very fimilar with cars and truck so try not to get too technical please.
I got the truck from my uncle who used to work for gm. It has a decal of the word "Winchester" on both sides of the truck and has engraved wood inside the cab with the same word. I've searched the internet (I'm very profecent in finding what I want to find) yet this eludes me. I can't find any info on this. my uncle states that it was for some "thing" and only 6 were made because of some issues they had.
my question is, is it worth any more than just a simple 1988 sierra 1500 truck? I doubt it is but on the off chance I figured I would post something where people are knowledgeable with this type of stuff.
also another question is, how much would it cost to replace the engine (estimate of course). Thanks to all that reply.

Not sure bout the "Winchester" part, but an engine for that would be very cheap. Just a used 350 would run bout $1000 roughly.

Sure you can. Some places will do that. Labor depends on who is doin it. A backyard mechanic could do it for bout 400. More reputable places will charge for bout 8 hours which would run about $1000.

I currently own one of these and use it as a company truck. I bought it 3 years ago for $2000. Its a red '88 4x4 with yellow and silver decals on both sides and stamped wood treatments in the cab. I want to say the engine is pushing more HP than stock. This one has just passed 413,000 miles and still runs very strong. I tried to research the truck and found a small shop in Michigan that customized several Sierras with the Winchester edition including a couple stepside versions. Most were red. Mine didn't have a gunrack when I bought it, bit now that I look at it, I can see where the mount brackets once were.
