Default 1990 2500

hello , i just bought a 1990 2500 4x4, so far everything is working perfect, what are some common problems with this year truck , the mileage is high , but the truck is still running strong.can anybody help me out so i can keep this truck for a long time. thanks

hey . i could tell you a few things. i have the same year mines a 2500 as well. i have about 171,000 on mine. they are good reliable trucks. brake light relay switch wich is located on the brake arm itself, had tilt and cruise but tilt nuckle went out so changed column. wiper switch.still have problem with that. they stay on untill they want to turn off. keep hitting switch back and forth then they will ev. turn off. clutch fan went out changed 2 times so i modified a electric fan that you would find in 80s cars works still stayes moderate. and the dam thermostat housing lekin all the time. do to a fancy chrome idea i had. went through six gaskets and two shops. this time i think i fixed it. i used to scrap cars and metal forklifts, etc so it would over heat so i changed the thermostat and leaked eversince. that and the old housing was bad. the chrome grill flaking you walk by you would get cut so i put a 99 yukon gmc grill on it flipped everything inside out and shaved sidemarkers. lookes alright for now. icm went out and fuel pump. but other than that not much at all. oh yea the stupid brass bushings in the door hinges. i did away with the plastic door panels and fabricated aluminum ones. the outerdoor handles break. 3rd time. this time i made a mold and casted bronze door handles. nice and shiny engraved im doing the 2500 insignia next. i took off the trim and going to pinstripe with that on there,redid the exhaust. sounds like a peacemaker my uncle sayes.lol one more thing heater core sprung a leak and the water valve i cant remember the name at hand but that was a nightmare. located right next to the disributor on the intake rusted out completly. tryed to unthread it broke cheasy pot metal. napa was the only place that carried it. had to chissel and rethread . i made sure this wasnt going to happen again. hope this helps

Basically Keep the oil changed on a regular basis. And tune ups when the mileages require them. Ive heard of these trucks hitting 250k to 300k miles on them.
Also drive it correctly. I have a 94 Z71 K1500 with 119k miles on it.
I hope it makes at least 200k. It all depends on how you treat it..
