Default 1994 GMC Sierra Performance

Hey, I have a 1994 GMC Sierra Z71...Its got a 5.7 V8 in it and its a 4X4...It is really slow though and i dont wanna race it i just want to know i have the power there in case i need it. Right now all i have done is Flowmasters Exhaust wich helped out a little but its still slow off the line. I was thinking about gettin and cold air intake, they are cheap. Is this a good idea? i dont want to spend more than 500$ so does anyone have any advice on what i should do?

im in the same boat i just dont know if i want to put a cold air intake on because they drop in the engine bay so low, if you take your truck off road muddin or anywhere it is going to get really wet i wouldnt, but if you do decide too, im pretty sure you can get a AEM one of INJEN one fore like 200-300 $

A westers tune will give you about 30-35 hp. It removes torque managment, give you 2-3 better mpg, and like i mentioned above will give 30-35 hp. E-Mail me if you are intrested the price is well below your $500 limit. scwesters@yahoo.com

What i did is went on www.jegs.com and got an air tube that goes from the fender stright to the air cleaner housing it was cheap and it elimanated the resonator then i went with a k&n air filter this helped out my gas milage ALOT and gave the v8 some more power for not too expensive after that i got a flowmaster force 2 cat back and fuel milage is much better then before and some extra hp!

Put some headers on it. Change out the cam and put in new lifters or change the distributar and coil pack. All of these little things will add up to Hp...
I have a 94 Z71 w/ 5.7 V-8. I noticed that it was slow at the take off but it is a work truck and it will pull about anything you need too. They have a lot of tourque but quickness is lacking. I notice when Im pulling my trailer on the highway and I go to pass someone the rpms go up but the speed doesnt move and the gas gauge moves to the empty side. But thats part of it I guess.

i have a 94 k2500 with the 454 went with the k&n fipk, poweraid throttle body spacer, super chip, msd 6al ignition with the blaster coil, cam, roller lifters, and roller rockers. the thing is a pulling machine. the k&n and the cam, lifters and roller rockers cam be done for close to $500, makes a huge difference.

Hi, I just recently inherited my dads 1994 GMC K1500 with the 5.7L V-8. I am going through the same problem, can anyone tell me if they find anything that helped this, i know some of you guys were talking about putting cold air intakes into their truck, did that help at all or should i go in a different direction. please email me if anyone feels the need to respond to this

Thanks
Kevin

94 z71 was not really made for quick off the line reaction. it's really a small work truck. most of them came with the auto trans, a few with nv3500 manual without a low gear and the rare 1/2 tons came with the nv4500 manual trans. thats a 5 speed with the granny gear, only seen on 2500's. if you want to add some power to it put a K&N air intake with a poweraid throttle body spacer. for performance chips i would see about getting one from engineperformancechips.com. for about $80 you can get a stage 2 chip good for 30-50 hp. that will be more than enough for what you want.

This is a really old thread, but welcome to the forum and your input is very much appreciated. 50 horsepower from a "Chip" on a gas motor is wishful thinking though!
