first of all new to the site.my name is gordee hello everyone.now down to the crazy situation my lovely chevy truck has me in.lol.i have a 1995 chevy 2500 with the 5.7 liter and a 4l80e (mt1)in it.the trans has lost most all gears but 2nd.so i figure it needs replaced.after doing some research i have found out that i have to put one from another 95 in it.i have the option to get a used/rebuilt one fairly cheap but its from a 1995 3500 with a 454.Does anyone know if this will work for me.I posted this same question on other forums and got no responses.I really need to get my truck running because i live in northeastern ohio and its starting to get cold a little to cold to ride a motorcycle everywhere.thanks for any info on this it would be greatly appreciated.

 

Yes it will work. The 4L80E was/is used in several GM truck/SUVs.

im new to this but I have a 1995 Chevy Silverado 2500 4x4 7.4l(454) with a 4l80 tranny
The truck wouldnt shift out of 2nd gear
than I slightly lost reverse. (But had reverse the following morning)
(I purchased a new filter and solenoids from eBay)
ive also acquired a 1995 Chevy Silverado 3500 with a 454 with a 4l65 tranny

my question is would me replacing the filter and solenoids fix the shifting an reverse problem OR will it be PLUG AND PLAY to swap my tranny with the donor vehicle I acquired that’s a 4l65? Or is it even possible? I have the ecu or ecm from that belongs with the 4l65 if that does any good

Any help would be Greatly appreciated
I use my truck daily for my bread and butter for being welder! I’m dead in the water without it.
