1995 gmc 4.3 l engine swap to another motor
I have been trying to keep my daughter's '95 GMC 4.3L pickup with an auto trans running. After a spun bearing, I put a new crank, over sized oil pump and new bearings, she was off and running. I do the maintenance so I know her oil was up to snuff.
Last night at 3:30 am I get a SOS call. She threw # 1 rod through the pan on the X-way. Well the beast is in the driveway after I went and carried it home again.
I am thinking of using the motor for a boat anchor and switching to maybe a 350. My concerns are the trans bolt up, will the computer like the idea and all that sort of things.
So, this dad would like time to work on his own PU and would like to solve the GMC motor/trans/ect problem for good. Can anyone help me on my choices so that I do it the best way the first time? I have the tools, shop, and where with all to do it. I just want this over for good.
Any advise on a proper swap would be appreciated as well as does anyone have the right set up that I can purchase would be appreciated also. Thanks.
