this isn't a silverado question but i tryed car forums and people are dicks, so i figured id try old reliable truck forums for my questions once again:P, so i have this 86 firebird.... came with a 2.8mpi, wich was traded for a 4.3 carb and its shot, and i happen to have a 305 tbi throwing arround anyone know how much trouble it would be to make it work?

Well you could get those things with 305s in em so it should be really easy actually. You might need to find a 305 T/A in a salvage yard to get some of the parts off of like front end suspension, tranny, driveshaft, (don't know if the rear end is different), and all the mounts like engine and tranny mounts. It may bolt up to the tranny you have in it but I don't know.

Should work great. Couldn't tell you the particulars though cause I've never done ACTUALLY done an engine swap.

The 305 should bolt up to he tranny if the 4.3 did. The 4.3 is practically a small block v8 with the last two cylinders lopt off. The rear mains should be the same and you shouldn't need an adapter to do it. We did a 4.3 EFI to a 350 carb to the same tranny (700R4) without any problems.

the trans on the 305 now came from a 4.3 in the beginning and you are right about the 4.3 i think it has the same bore as a 350 (correct me if i'm wrong) but thats what i was told, but i'm willing to bet that the 2.8 wiring harness wont work on the 305 so maybe uill need a 4 barrel intake and carb?

Yeah I think the 4.3 and 5.7 are both like 3.80x4.00 cylinders
