2" Leveling Kit Installation
Just purchased a leveling kit for my 2011 Silverado Ext. Cab 4x4 Z71 and wondered if a spring compression tool could be used to install them above the spring (they are the puck/disc type) without having to disconnect the hardware below?
i just did one in my 09, same as ur 11. all u need to do is disconnect ur sway bar and tie rods unbolt the top of the strut and the bottom pull it out as an assembly and put it back in. no compressor needed. all i used was simple hand tools. make sure u have a heavy duty pry bar on hand to get it all back in place and an extra set of hands! and definately get an allighnent if you plan on keeping ur tires believe me.
I'm planning on doing a 2" leveling kit to my 07.5 too. I've been told by many that I had to invest in the Key Unloading Tool.
I was told the gasser Silv and Sierras can be done without the tool. but that it was difficult. With the truck jacked up and the suspension dangling the stock keys were still under a small amount of a load.
So I just assumed the DMax trucks were going to be under MORE of a load with suspension dangling.

Don't forget to bring your camera with ya.
Well guys, I installed the kit and all looks well (I will include pictures soon). I took my 2011 Silverado Extended cab 4x4 Z71 to an alignment tire place and after they hooked the truck to the alignment machine they began looking through the choices of the included vehicles in which to use on the menu and the guy said "What year is that"? I said 2011 and he said this thing only goes up to something like 2006 if I remember correctly. The boss man there said just use that they are all the same. Is this true? I read somewhere that 2007 through current year is all the same but 2006 is an entirely different suspension. Are there certain specs for my 2011 that I can give him to plug into his alignment machine? I swear this truck now sounds as if the tires are sure making more noise than ever before, not sure if its in my head.
