Default 2000 GMC Jimmy Voltage Drop

My Jimmy's voltage gauge will drop from just over 14 to about 1/4 of the way from the bottom and bounce when I am in reverse with nothing on except the DRL's. When this happens all my lights dim but I don't have any loss of power. When i accelerate the gauge returns to about 14. When im stopped at a light the gauge drops again and bounces. Its worse when I have the rear defroster on or the vents on 4. It only seems to drop at low RPM.

I replaced the battery about 2 months ago and the alternator about 6-9 months ago.

My dad was a mechanic for 20 years and tested the voltage from the alternator and he said its normal. We checked the grounds and all of them were fine. Does anyone know what could be causing this to happen?
