I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 5.3 4x4. Im getting ready to rebuild a few things and need a little bit of advice.

Getting ready to buy a rebuilt 4l60e since mine only has 1st and reverse now.
My transfer case wont shift. I have the push button on the dash, when i try to go into 4lo in neutral you can hear the case shift followed by a loud "clank" and then another "clank" as it shifts back out. Never stays in 4lo. If i keep trying it'll lock me out after 3 or 4 tries. 4hi works occasionally but the front end never seems to lock in. Shift motor on the case is brand new and the switch looks to be in decent shape.

Front end has alot of play in it. Looks like the pitman needs replacing. Also as im driving slowly you can hear a light tap coming from something down there(maybe cv axles??) Im thinking about completely redoing the front end but havent decided yet.

Anyone have any advice on these. Im sure ill run onto more as i work on it but thats all i know of for now.

Yes, my speedo works fine as far as i can tell
