Default 2007 Silverado 1500 oil filter?

Ok so I have a new 2007 Silverado v8 5.3 crew cab 2wd. with active fuel management.

My father in law has suggested using Mobil1 oil and ACDelco filter. I dont question the oil choice. However shouldnt I use I higher quality filter. He claims that I much use ACDelco filter not to mess up my warrenty. Any thoughts?

As long as the filter meets OEM demands then its fine. Ive been using Hastings filters for awhile and havent had a problem with the cheapies just gotta change them at their time.

A/c delco is best, cuz its designed for that engine..not just one that "fits"...

some others are probably ok...but make sure it has a check valve like the Delco,to keep the oil from draining back overnight

Argon may be right but if you do get the Mobil1 filter it should be good. Those are some of the best (and most expensive) filters u can find.

At Advance we had a standard advance filter that was cut in half along with a FRAM Tough Guard filter that was cut in half, they were identical in design. The medium (filter material) might have been different, however. The Advance filter was only a couple of bucks and about 1/3 of the price of the FRAM Tough Guard. I was told to steer away from the basic FRAM filters and generic filters. I usually use Mobil1 or ACDelco.
