That's good to know actually. I sell some of these filters at work(Fram, Wix, Mobile 1, Motorcraft, K&N). Thanks Steve.

Where did you come by this list anyway?

What point am I missing? Just because filter A is manufactured by the same company as filter b does not mean the quality is the same. Cut open a Fram, Cut open a K&N and cut open a Wix after 3000 miles. You'll see that the K&N appears to be a higher quality filter, now i'm no engineer, just a diesel tech but I run K&N because I've cut all of those open and I was more impressed with the K&N, and would never ever ever put on a fram on any of my vehicles.

I second that. I used to use premium Fram, then someone told me they weren't worth it, so I used premium NAPA, then the same person told me they weren't worth it either. My mechnic uses standard duty cheap Purolator Commercial filters (same as on the shelf but cheaper) on everything including his dirt track car. He told me that the only time he could see a use for the "premium, high mileage, or Heavy Duty" filter is if you used the 5,000 + mileage oil because you would need more media to keep it clean. But he doesn't recommend that type of oil anyway and he (and myself) would never go over 3,000 miles on oil so I guess thats your answer. lol He says all that sh*t is a gimmick.

allow me to retract my statement on ecotech engines (4-bangers)...use ONLY A'C DELCO...its not a spin on,but a suppository...the right one is critical

My lube guys put on what ever the hell they get for cheap. Mine gets serviced when ever I feel like taking it there. I am entirely too lazy to change my own oil. By the time I buy all that is neccesary to change the oil and lube all the zerks and check the diff and tansfer cases, it is just as easy and faster to take it there and have them do it. Plus most of the time they will let me go under in the pit to check things out and watch them do it so that I know they don't miss anything. Helps to keep them honest.
