2007 Silverado, 6-cyl, mileage problem
The sticker advertised 17/21 and I'm getting 13/15 after 2000 miles. Took it to dealer and their checkout said everything was normal. To me, getting 25% less than their advertised mileage is not normal. Yeah, I could understand maybe 10% or even 15% less, but not 25% less. One fillup even showed 10 MPG.
This is basically the no-frills 6-cyl engine with the 4-speed automatic tranny. No 4x4 and no extra packages. Regular cab, 6.5' bed.
After dealer called this morning and said everything checked out normal, I call Chevy Customer Support and they said they would check with the dealer and call me back.
Would like to hear from others with this identical pickup.

RE: 2007 Silverado, 6-cyl, mileage problem
since you have a new pickup,
I would check with dealer to be sure no warranty issue.
When you drainbreakin oil,I would go with a good quality synthetic oil, may help some.
checkpressure in tires
whatspeed do you drive on highway, keep it below 62, it will help.
what differential do you have, should have code inglove box. you should have a 3.08 or 3.42
I had a1993 GMC, 4.3 with 3.42 and I got 22.9 on interstate at 62 mph (only interstate driving). But overall mileage was good. It was a great truck till you hooked it to something and it had little pullingpower.

Methinks you should have bought a burlier truck!
I'm just playing.
That sounds incredibly ****ty. Then again, the 6 cylinder does have to 'work harder' than a V8 to keep the pace. (Picture yourself standing next to one of those guys who compete in those strong man competitions. Then imagine that the task in front of you is to lift a 600lb telephone pole. Someone's gonna have a tougher time)
I gotta ask though, the thing that just kills mileage is sitting at stop lights. Take a stop watch just for one day, and keep a mental record of just how damn long you're sitting there not going anywhere. As far as highway mileage, 15 just sounds like you're either smashing around, or constantly on and off the gas. (Try cruise control and the far right lane. Sounds boring doesn't it?)
BTW, don't unquestionably believe what the dealership says. These are the guys who leave things behind when they're done 'working on your motor'. I swear, some would even miss it if you didn't have half your engine block.
Remember the stop watch, and yes, definitely swap over to synthetic ASAP. Your truck will love you for it.

Customer support called back and said that the dealer did the tests correctly. DUH! Oh yeah, I'm in south Texas so temperature is not an issue. Was 78° here yesterday. The book calls for 5W-30 oil. I've never used synthetic oil before.
My last 2 pickup's got stated mileage from the git-go.
Will be interested to see if any class action lawsuits get started.

Tonight I saw a local dealers ad for a new GMC with V6. He said truck would get 20+ mpg.
If theirads are posted as such, I would just stick with them, also talk with sales manager,
Ask to talk with District tech rep, dealershipare to make an appointment for you.
Local guy had a big sign made and attached to the side of his truck explaining his unhappiness with the product.
On Sat/Sun he parked truck across street from dealership.
Believe me he got lots of attention.
As I understand truck got fixed!!!

I have an '07 regular cab 4x4 with the 4.3L, 27K miles. I've never gotten better than 17 mpg on the highway, around town, downhill, or with a tailwind. I use synthetic oil, and drive pretty conservatively, just figured the smaller engine was having to pull too much weight.
