Hello all,
I am new to the forum. I have a 2007 New Body Style 1500 crew cab 2WD with a 5.3 liter, andabout 2400 miles on it. I was on the highway this morning in the left lane behind a slow car waiting for him to get over so I could speed up, when a Ford truck came up behind me and kept slowing down then racing right up behind me even though he could see the car in front of me. When the car finally got over I sped up and got in front of it to let the Ford pass, as he passed me up I got in behind him and it was on. We got up to almost 100 when all of a sudden my truck just quit accelerating like it hit a limiter or something. I backed off the throttle and it resumed speed. Does the new Chevy have a limiter? This was very annoying.

 

yeppers...100 mph governor...the brakes are not rated for higher

 

Yep unless you get a custom tune as i did and now i dont have a 100 mile speed limiter. Not that i say any one should go over 100

 

Same thing happened on my 99' when I was racing a riced out Jetta. I lost cause of that damn limiter (but I had him until then). You can get a tune or a programmer to change it. Im not sure about a tune (might eliminate them all together), but programmers let you set them higher. I think your choices are 100, 115, and 128 mph.

 

Thanks for the info. I think I'll wait for a while before doing any mods, until I get a feel for what I really need that is.

We get asked a lot why they shut off @100..

Let's face it..the steering/brakes are just not rated for over 100 mph...

 

jcbst12, if the Jetta had been the 2.0Liter Turbro or the VR6 you would not have won anyway... Those are peppy

 

sounds like we just need to get the brakes and steering upgraded then.
