Default 2500 HD Trans. Problem

Hi Everybody,

I have 95k miles on my 2005 truck with the Allison trans. A couple weeks ago I heard a couple noises and some slight bucking while driving in traffic and at low speed. I got into it yesterday and now I have no power to the wheels at all. What do u guys think besides the obvious transmission problem? Thanks

Do you drive it hard? Sounds like its all in the tranny. When was the trans fluid changed last, if at all?

The fluid was changed about 5K miles ago. My real problem is, I don't want to take somewhere and they rebuild the tranny, if it was just a computer problem or something else. Any suggestions on what to look out for?, I don't want to spend 2 or 3K right now. Thanks for responding

I would try to find a honest mechanic or mabe a friend that knows someone to determine that exact problem, but if you herd a crunch or something like that, I hate to say it but it sounds like the tranny will need some work.

Mine acts funny sometimes( slips and bangs back into gear) and I only have 70,000 on it. Sounds like a dumb question, but is the fluid low?

Hey everyone, turns out that I a had a connection problem in the transfer case. The truck was going in and out of 4 wheel drive, then finally remained in 4 wheel drive and I didn't realize it.. The tranny checks out fine thank god. Thanks for the help, these sites are great to share the problems.
