Default 2500 mods

Sense everyone has 1500s'....How many actually do mods to there 2500 and 3500?

Tunes: Basic tunes are fine, but my truck dogs till about 2500 then takes off like a fat kid after Twinkies. I have a 6.0 so it shouldn't be that bad sense u guys talk about how urs is pretty much little bit slower them my car. My car would hand my truck it’s .....U get the point. So those of u that custom tune ur truck that have 2500's, what’s ur experience.

Lifts: Suspension lift is out of the questions and body lifts are cheap to buy, but how hard r they to install? Like fenders and grill and hood, how do they move? I'd rather not waste my money just to find out that I could have spent 2000 on suspension instead of 400 on body lift and 600 on labor.

Exhaust: there like 3 kits out there, and I just wanted to hear if anyone has done any exhaust mods to them. Magna flow and flowmaster is about the only companies that make a muffler that hooks up to the exhaust with duals out the back. I'm thinking about just buying 2 mufflers to sit next to each other, sense I have true duals into the muffler stock, like the Silverado ss.

O andthe trans torque management...I have tow/haul mode and wondered if it would effect that any, I wouldn't see how sense its not messing with the pressure to make it shift harder. I have Pcmforless.com on my car and he does an exellent job and has tones of experience with my kind of car. I'll probably just ask him what he thinks.

Is ur truck gas or diesel? If diesel you have alot of potential to haul ***.

My old man has a 2006 Duramax Crew Cab with the 6.6L & Allison trans.
So far he has put a magnaflow exhaust, drop in K&N filter and Bully Dog chip on it. That thing hauls everloving ***. By far the fastest truck i have ever seen up close....and its a heavy 2500, not a half ton. The diesel engines today are very strong and have potential for huge gains by just doing bolt on mods/tunes. My truck is pretty fast but his is still just a lil bit faster (of course his truck came with a turbo too).

No, I have a 6.0 gas motor. I know I could get tons of mods on Duramax. I kind of wish I would have waited little longer for one, but they're hard to find around here and the 6.0 and 8.1 gas is plentiful.

The computer reprogram will get you alot better power across the board, and help decrease the torque management. It will realy wake your truck up. Also the same mods we talk about for 1500s will work just as well for your 6.0.

As far as body lift, they are very easy to put on. Just undo the body mounts, slip in the spacers, and tighten it up. The bumpers are just brackets that mount to factory holes. And the price should be around $200 or less with the bumper brackets. I personally don't like the body lifts as they look funny, but I do understand about cost.

I can't comment on the exhaust as I have a 5.3.

My understanding is the 5.3 is very close to it's full, naturally aspirated potential from the factory. The 6L is choked and benefits much more from the same mods as the 5.3.

The big downfall of bodylifts (from what im told) is that the install often requires the disconnection & reconnection of many vital parts (i.e. brake lines, fuel lines, etc...) that have a high risk of breaking either during the install or down the line as wear occurs. BUT, this is not with every body lift installation. I have heard it occurs with alot of them, however.

You can usually download the installation instructions and see what will e required straight from the company you plan to buy from.

I helped install a 3" on an '01 Z71. I was pretty straight forward even with a case of beer between the three of us. Three years later and the cab is still on the frame.
