4.3L V6 Performance

4.3L V6 Performance
I have a 06 Silverado with a 4.3L Vortec in it. I've really been looking for some kind of tuner/programmer/chip or anything to help boost its performance. I'm not all that much into gaining HP, I just mainly want better gas mileage.
So does anyone have any recommendations of products to try? I know there's all kinds of tuners and programmers out there but its hard to find em for a V6 truck. I've heard people say to get the software changed on it but I don't know much about that so if anybody could help me out there I'd appreciate it.
Thanks for any input,
Logan

Try BlackBearPerformance.Com the owners name is Justin and he has done a few computers for me and I have always been happy. I am not sure if he does the 4.3 computers, but it's worth a shot.

Lol, I've had a pretty good amount of folks tell me that and I've deeply thought about it. If I was going for a V8 though I'd just go ahead and get a different truck.
Who do you recommend for tunes.

For get it. The 4.3 is a very good engine for a S10, But should NEVER have been put in a full size pickup. That's the same thing with a 4 cyl. They should only be put in garden tractors. Just my 2 cents.

I totally agree. Way to heavy a truck for that small of an engine. Wish they made more 5 speed V8's from Chevy. I've actually never seen a V8 chevy manual (in a 1500 series).

1st your 4.3 is a good engine however your truck was designed to make people think that this would be a good compromise, having a truck with a V6 should get good fuel economy. In trying to do this GM most likely put 3.42 or less for your rear gears. Find out what you have for rear gears if they fall in this range change them out to 3.73and you will find your truck will have more get up and go and you will not adversely affect your fuel economyGood Luckjvp

i had a 93 gmc full size 1500 with 4.3.
it ran good, rode good, got good gas mileage and did everthing i wanted it to do but tow mama's travel trailer.
Had to trade it for a 2500 with 350 engine, that rides like a log wagon, eats gas, and can pull the travel trailer ok. if you pull in the mountains you need to step up to a diesel.
if you want to race, then get the 1500 model with the 6.0 liter engine. That should be fast enough.
I would not change motors in your truck, some old man like me would love to have your truck to tool around town, pull his lawn mower, go to the lumber yard and be able to past a gas station.
good hunting,
