Default 40 Series rock!

I finally got my exhaust done today! I ordered a Super 44 Flowmaster at a local shop yesterday and he promised me it would be in today. He called me about lunch time and said he just watched the UPS man drive right on by his shop without even slowing down...... [:@]!! So I was in Pensacola doing some business and ended up stopping at a much better shop and went ahead with the single in/ dual out 40 Series Flowmaster. I directed the pipes out in front of the back right tire, similar to the Ford Lightning setup. I don't know why but it sounds different than most Silverados and Sierras I here with exhaust.... much more aggressive sounding! Seems to have lost some mid-range umph though....[>:]

Kinda odd though. When I was running down I-10 pulling a small trailer with a small stump grinder, running about 71mph my gas mileage counter was only registering between 13-15mpg! I slowed down to 65mph and it bumped up a little to 16-18mpg but my Avg. counter for a 50 mile trip down I-10 showed something like 14.8mpg......... The trailer is not very heavy. The stump grinder probably weighs about 250-300lbs.... roughly. The trailer is only about 7-8 ft. long and only a single axle. After I got home I took it off and riding around town about 40-50mph I was averaging like 18-22mpg! What the heck???? Shouldn't the mileage be lower at those speeds versus 65mph?

adding just a couple of hundred pounds will do more than you'd think to your mileage... i get damn near 1 mpg just taking out my 50 lb toolbox

if I run around 40-45 mph I get great milage, but it is rare that I can do that as you have to use the highway to get anywhere here. And yes a little weight makes a big difference.

Yeah I know the calculators aren't exactly accurate anyway. Heck I was driving around today looking for work and at one point I noticed the temperature on my rearview mirror was like 88F. Like 30 minutes later I glanced up and noticed it said 116F while I was sitting parked.... after I started going down the road again it started dropping pretty steady back down to like 94F. But I'm hoping the fuel guages are a bit more accurate.

well the one in my mom's envoy (im guessing gm uses the same fuel calculator system in all the vehicles) will tell you when you're accelerating "4mpg" or something like that and then when you let off at 70 it goes to 99... it's cool to look at but it tells me absolutely nothing about actualy mileage im getting... the avg thing is pretty close though
