ok i know the old 700R4 in my 89 k5 were **** but ive been reading on here that the 4L60 in my 06 Z-71 isnt that great either. can someone tell me why?

i had never heard of this until joining the forum

They're just not as stout as they should/could be. Under normal driving conditions, most will be fine. Start doing performance stuff and you'll be rebuilding or replacing before too long.

A built 4l60e (level 5) or a 4l80e. It depends on your application. The 80e is more expensive. They're also heavier and that affects performance, but they're virtually bullet-proof.
