Default 92 ext cab 4x4 speedometer problems

Hey guys, I have a 92 Silverado EXT cab 4x4 and the speedometer wont work, the cruise wont work and the odometer wont work. I did some research and came to the conclusion that the VSS was bad. That was a $75 mis-assumption. The new sensor didnt fix it and I am wondering is there a relay, fuse or anything in that general format that may be the culprit. I hope that it isnt the VSS Buffer but we will cross that bridge when we get to it. I have experience in the automotive field so use terminology and whatnot that you are familiar with. Thanks in advance.

have you done an ohm test on the vss wires yet? Could be a bad cluster assmbly also. Is the 92 a gear driven VSS? if not how does the exciter ring look? my money is on a electrical wiring problem

I havent done an ohm test on anything, i do not know the parameters. I did replace the VSS. The VSS on mine is a magnetic pickup located in the transfer case. I will check wiring and whatnot on Sunday as its my only day off. As for "whacking" the dash, I have tried that lol. No dice. I am hoping that it isnt a costly fix. It would be nice to have cruise. BTW, anyone have any issues with thier power windows? Do they need to be lubed every so often? Mine sticks in the down position sometimes, no biggie, beat on the door and it works again. Thanks guys.

Your power motor is on it's way out. They get corrosion around the armature and when you "beat it" it free's it up. You can take them apart and clean them with electrical contact cleaner and get a few more miles out of them.
