Default 94 5.7 z71 mpg

Hi new to the forum. What kind of mileage should I reasonably expect from a 94 k1500 Z71 5.7 TBI? It seems I get about 12 mpg average city/hwy. Truck has over 300k on it. Anything I could do in the way of mods to bring this up any? Gas is hitting 1.16 /litre in Vancouver so it'd be nice to get some more economy out of her.
Thanks
oh yeah both the left and right rear exhaust manifold bolts are broken off, not sure if there is a connection there or not.

Clean out the fuel system real good, clean the throttle body thoroughly, add a throttle body spacer, add some synthetic blend in the engine oil, change fuel filter, pcv. Those will give you better mileage.

Also if your exhaust system is leaking it will likely effect power and therefore fuel millage. All previously listed things will help for certain as well check for air filter cleanliness.

Yeah if that exhaust leak is pretty bad then that will kill some MPG.
