Default 94 K1500, dash electrical issues

ive had my truck for about two years and i love it. it is a conversion model, black, so it has a fiberglass toneau, fender flare/running boards, and gray leather inside, all from the factory. (ill get a pic up after i get it washed) it has the stock 350 and with no work done. its so loud everyone, even other car guys think it has an exhaust. i just clicked 91k, 16k is me. anyway heres my problem:

for a while the parking light switch has been acting up. well last night it blew out completly. when i turn on the headlights they turn on, but nothing else does. not the parking lights, not the dash lights, and not the rear running lights. the brake lights and turn signals still work.

i took apart the dash and found the white plug connected to the headlight switch was melted however the wiring didnt look blackened. since the headlights still work i figure all i need is a new plug right? what may have caused this? if my repair doesnt work should i replace the headlight switch next? ideas anyone? btw its not the fuses or dimmer switch, those were the first places i looked.
