95 z71 just my luck 0_o
I posted a video on you tubeto better describe problem.... So I just picked up a 95 z71 with 160k, original owner, it ran very good while checking it out, drove it once, all good, waited a few weeks and went back and drove it again, all good...then i bought it...... all was good till i brought it home and the next morning, what do you know, problems already!
It seems like battery is bad but I just put in a new battery and still i get slow cranking...i posted a video to hear whats going on...any help is appreciated. Thanks Link: |
is it EFI or carbureted? If its carbureted to me it sounds like a fuel problem like its not getting enough on start up. So try pumping the gas a few times b4 you start... Hope this helps...

its a tbi system...i just took it out for another drive, after the slow start...it runs very good, idles good as well....im thinking maybe starter or alternator, possibly fuel related as well...just wanted to get some opinions before i start replacing stuff i dont have to.
|
Now that i watched the video again and you have the tbi set up. I could be the starter also might want to check out the fuel filter. To get the the tank you can either drop the take but if i were you i would just take the 6 bolts out under the bed and take the bed off to get to the tank. That is if you want to check the filter. You did say you have a new battery right? If your starter and fuel filter check out try the alternator and if all is well might want to check your grounds. See if any of them are loose or all rusted up. Sorry if im just tossing things out there just trying to help out. Someone else with more experience might chime in here after bit.

Was the first crank in the video the first crank of the day or at least in a few hours? It seemed normal and slowly got worse with each start.
|
it was already warmed up....the previous owner also added a 40 gallon tank and the fuel gauge needle fluctuates,, could this possibly be related?
|
It could definitely be related. Seems like your fuel pressure could be low. Same thing used to happen to my truck.
I say check your fuel pressure, replace your fuel filter and possibly give it a tune up. |
no codes, no engine light, just passed smog today (yay!) ...cleaned grounds, replaced plugs, replaced fuel filter, added sea foam to fuel, new oil...cleaned carb with carb cleaner, runs a bit better but still has slow crank/start...will pull starter and have checked next weekend, gonna look for one at junk yard and rebuild it...see what happens. also gonna check fuel pressure after i order the inline adapter unless anyone know another way
oh, another thing, after taking off air cleaner i noticed that the throttle body looks like this, is it leaking/cracked or? is this normal? thanks http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...8/IMG_2411.jpg |
also check your hot (red) cable going to your starter
sometimes water will work into the cable and corrode the internals addind resistance to the line which will eat some of your voltage. which can start that problem do a voltage drop test on that cable and see if you get a reading, you may just have to change that cable out |

Also, from the picture, looks like your master break cylinder is leaking. See the rust streaks down the front of the booster? and it appears as though your reservoir is a little low too. Just an observation. |
