'97 Sierra Exhaust
I'm a new member, and looking for some advice.
I currently own a 1997 GMC Sierra z71 with a 5.7L, and extended cab.
I was wondering about some suggestions on the right way to do dual exhaust on this truck. The exhaust runs from the exhaust manifolds into two separate cats, then the large stock muffler converts it from 2 into 1. I want dual pipes straight out the rear. What did you guys do? Did you use a 2 in- 2 out muffler, or a y-pipe after a regular muffler? I imagine it's a personal preference, but I'm looking for good sound, performance, and hopefully no effect with emissions? I've been looking at some cat-back kits from Flowmaster. What do you guys run?
Thanks,
Dan

RE: '97 Sierra Exhaust
I think the best way to do dual exhaust is to come off the exhaust manifolds or headers, to your cats then a section of pipe, H or X crossover then the mufflers, and your tipsat the end. you could also put an exhaust dumpout behind each cat... those are fun : )

RE: '97 Sierra Exhaust
My bro has the same truck as you, except in white. He went with dual in dual out Magnaflow. But if you got the cash, go with long tube headers. Individual piping an X pipe. Then run each piping to the mufflers and then to the postion where you want them with the tips you want. I know Gibson sales the bolt on kit. You can search them directly.
