usually...when abs activates unwanted, its a wheel speed sensor lying to the computer....on a 4x4,its almost ALWAYS the rear sensor, which is on the transfer case...easy to change!

that sensor is USUALLY the cause of the abs running at slow speeds....but it will not cause a mushy pedal

No I know that, I picked one up for 25.99 at kragens. BTW if you guys have a Kragen's, Schuck's or Checker's and you need to buy parts from them. Call them have them look up the part as normal, then look up the part number on there web site. Compair prices and then make them price match it. They originally wanted 62.99 for the speed sensor. I looked it up and I ended up getting it for 25.99. It's worth a few minuites of your time! Thanks again Argon. I will post the results here when I get it in the truck.

I put the new sensor in, not what it was. She's still being a pain in the ***! Well I am now thinking that it will most likely be the front hubs. They are really spendy though. I am not so worried about the price but should I have to do them both? No, so which one do I do first? and how can I tell which one is bad? Couse that's the only one that I am going to do. I also heard that a guy could take the sensor out of the hub and "clean" it and the hub where it reads. Is that feasable and possibly fix the problem? Also in the meanwhile I am thinking of diconnecting the ABS, how and what are the effects on the brakes and truck if I do?? Sorry for the lot of questions. I am a curious individual!

disconnecting the Abs..is done a lot...but not reccomended.its "less safe",no doubt.

Its another crap shoot figuring out which front sensor without a scanner attatched.I watch the wheel speeds as I brake, and can usually spot 1 going very erratcic.
I can't remember on the 98...can you get the sensor independent of the hubs?..its been too long for to remember
