Question aftermarket headers

Hey everyone I'm looking in to and researching some new headers for my 01 silverado 5.3 V8

So I'm curious as to what headers everyone has purchased and installed on their trucks (not necessarily same model of course!).
Please tell me the brand, price, and if they are carb-legal (preferrably in CA)

Thanks!
Steve.

Check out Pacesetter They have long tube headers that are really bad ***! you have to shop around to get a deal on them. Id start on Ebay or Graig's list.

screw shorties, WASTE OF MONEY!

And honestly, the Pacesetters have some rather large 1 3/4" primaries and big ol' collectors. Great for some serious flowing engine mods and ripping at high rpms only, but with reg. bolt ons you'll have a pretty serious loss of low end! And with driving a big heavy truck, we need all the low-end we can get!

I went with some Doug Thorley LT's with 1 5/8" primaries, and deleted my cats. I've got a cammed 220/220 112 5.3 with a 3600 stall and I still don't feel I need the larger 1 3/4" primaries.

There are quite a few cases of issues with pacesetters rather low quality manufacturing, but you get what you pay for.

I got the ceramic Thorleys and are holding up very nicely. I hope they last a long long time because they are on my daily driver through Michigan salty winters. I know the Pacesetters wouldn't be up to that task without a lot of maintenance.

just to throw it out there, another that I've been hearing decent things about (but know little about myself), are the LPP headers for our trucks, you can check into them.

Sorry, almost forgot to mention. The Pacesetters are NOT CARB legal since they come with an Off-road use only Y-pipe that deletes your cats and needs a tune to get rid of the SES light.
The Thorley long-tubes come with flanges that are welded onto the OE Y-pipe in front of the stock cats, keeping them emissions legal if you need (I have my cats' deleted).
Check out autoanythingdotcom and search the net for one of their 15% off coupons (they have them all the time and if you need one I could probably find one for you). If I remember correctly, I got my Thorleys long tubes from them for around $450 or so. Not bad at all for what you get!

Oh allright thanks for that. Well I'm gonna get a cat back before i get headers so Ill check in to that when it comes time.
Kinda tight for money right now so we'll see what happens.
Thanks for the input tho guys!

As a matter of fact, is the Summit Cat-Back Exhaust worth the cheap price?
As long as they last and are reliable I'll be ok, but if they have some problems then I'd like to know.
I'm trying to not spend too much money but I may have to.
Any input appreciated!
