Default Aluminum Trans Pan

Has anyone tried one of these and are they worth the money???

It is sold by PATC transmission world. It has tubes that pass all the way through and supposedly the air that rushes throught them acts as a cooler. Plus it's aluminum which should run cooler, it holds 3 more quarts of fluid, and has a drain plug.

Also what is a good aftermarket tranny cooler. My truck has one from the factory so would it be worth putting a larger aftermarket unit?

Sometimes when towing the tranny temp gets about 200 degrees and I would like to keep it down a little.

Aluminum is going to run cooler but it breaks easy too.......the air flow idea has me confused. the only air that will flow is hot air from the engine. The added 3 qts is a big plus so is the drain plug. As far as the cooler goes I have taken 2 medium aftermarket coolers and daisy chained them together and bypassed the radiator cooler. 200 while towing is not bad but the above mentioned cooler set up will help with that temp quite abit.

Thats what I was thinking about the pan (as far as the hot air from the engine). Especially at idle to slow speeds I can see a little cooler air getting there when cruising. Hopefully someone has tried one and can chime in here. I am about due for a filter/fluid change and thought it would be nice to go ahead and install a new pan while I had the old one off.

It's a DeRale pan, I ran one before and the biggest benefit is from the additional two quarts of oil. Not sure how much the tubes help, but for the price it can't really be beat. As far as a cooler, your best bet is a 40k from Oregon Performance Transmission. Run that cooler and a deeper pan and you're golden.
