Ok maybe I am returning to my teenage years, but I decided to buy an amplified bazooka tube to be installed in my 2002 Crew Cab. I bought this truck used and it already had a really nice JVC head unit and replacement Rockford Fosgate front speakers (previous owner was too cheap to replace the rears - that will be next on my list).
Anyway here is my thoughts on the Bazooka tube...First off it is a 250 Watt powered 6.5" subwoofer. It fit perfectly behind the rear seat. Installation was super easy...I used to be an installer, but I believe anyone could tackle this job with ease. I picked up a cheap amplifier installation kit made by Scosche from Wal-Mart ($20.00) and it came with everything needed to install it. I guess I should have started out by saying that I was just looking for something to compliment the stereo's built in amp and give me a little bit of low range. I would say the tube did that, but doesn't have near the advertised 250 watts. As a matter of fact I had to turn the gain completely up to mix right with the door speakers, but it does sound ALOT better. Again I wasn't looking to be heard by other cars just have a clean sound inside. It did do that, but with nothing to spare.
In conclusion I will say this...if your just trying to get a little bass out of your system and want a clean easy to install all in one deal, then these are great. If your trying to impress your friends with a mind blowing system then keep shopping. As for me and my music taste which is mostly rock it is sufficient.

 

OK here is an update...I read in the manual that you can run a non-powered tube off of the powered one I already had installed. I found one on eBay for $70 (open box item) and it came in today. Huge difference! I had to turn the amp down a bit. It sounds awesome now! I couldn't resist!!!
