Hey guys,
Last night, I cranked my torsion bars up4 rounds on both sides to get a better looking "attitude" of the way the truck sits. I then realized that the front shocks were touching the bumper pads. I then went back down 1 turn, leaving it at 3 rounds.The truck is now sitting just a little below level, but looks much better. The shocks are now very, very close to touching the bumper pads on each side. My question is, will this hurtanything when I'm hitting rough terrain and really exercising the front suspension?

dude....forget about cranking on the factory keys. It is supposed to cause minor long term wear, but more than that it makes the truck ride much rougher which im sure you have noticed. Go to an offroad suspension shop and ask them to install larger torsion keys. This will eliminate all problems, level out the front end, and keep the comfortable ride. It cost me about $150 installed. no problems here.

 

Whenever I get around to it im gettin some different keys installed in mine and then Im getting some "add a leaf springs" put in the back to lift it up a little. I've rode in vehicles with them cranked and I wasn't to impressed!!!

 

installing larger keys will level the truck, but doing the add a leaf will probably raise the rear end resulting in the same problem you had in the first place, higher rear end than front end. You can crank on the new keys to raise the front end more BUT this will have the same result as cranking the factory keys. Your truck will sit higher but ride stiffer. Theres no way i know of to get around having a stiff ride with a lifted truck. I am all ears if you guys know a way

 

Thats ok I want thewhole truck higher abit. Its not that much more to put the rear leafs in over putting blocks in so im gonna try it. As for the front im gonna try the keys and then I'll know. Im gettinga bunch ofthe front end redone and all new longer shocks put on throughout the truck too. and new 265/75R16 tires put on too.

 

i have the same size tires and the torsion lift keys installed. they do work nicely, but the truck rode a lil bit rougher so i loosened each torsion bolt 1 full turn. got a line up and now the truck drives smooth as silk and sits level. i highly recommend it. good luck

 

How hard was it to put the torsion keys in?

 

I had an offroad suspension shop install mine. Its supposed to be really easy to intall the keys but the shop told me i needed a "special" tool so i couldnt do it myself, but that was probably just BS. the labor was not expensive at all so i just let them do it. took about 30 minutes or so.

 

No they do actucally need a tool. It looks like a big heavy duty C-clamp.
