Default Auto or Manual?

I am new to the chevy diesels. I am looking for a 2500 6.6. I have had diesels and they have all been 6 speeds. I am just wondering if in a chevy if it is better to get the 6 speed or the allison automatic. If i get the automatic will i be dissappointed. Also is there anything to worry about with the auto? Manual? Thanks in advance

The Allison is awsome, I have a buddy with an 07 Duramax and he loves it.

My dad owns a 3500 6.6L with the allison. I love driving that thing. It has no problem hauling anything. I personally think its the best combo that you can get stock right now.

not only that but the Allison now has the manual shifting option. That is really cool if you were worried about vehicle speed control in the hills with a load.

gpet - remember that with the diesel, you have no compression braking downhill, unless you have an exhaust brake.

The customer I had today has an Allison, not too good with the GMC body styles so I'm not sure the model. Says he has Zero problems towing his 30 foot boat, that plus the big trailer and fully loaded. I'd say you'll love it.
