Alright lets look at mechanical. Take your valve covers off and check for a broken spring or bad rocker arm.

Bent push rod, collapsed lifter............I found one once that the nut wasnt put back on the stud tight and it was missing when we pulled the valve covers...found it too.......sitting on top of the #5 cylinder when we pulled the heads ( I was impressed)

Look's like I will be out of town for two weeks.
I will pick back up when I get back.
So, you guys don't think it could be a intake gasket or a EGR ?
The valve covers should be easy enough.

OK I took it to Aamco, and had it check out.
They told me that it was probably the distributor and the my trany needed flushed.
So... I paid for the flush and new filter, to cover there time no the diagnostic.

Now with 125K and a worn out distributor, Local part store wants & $99 for a rebuilt, $300 for a new one and $300 for a MSD #8366. This is what I order I hope this does it.

Thanks for the help.

I had a very similar problem and was getting random misfire codes. Truck would misfire under light acceleration but seemed fine when you gave it gas. The previous owner tried everything, fuel filter, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, catalytic converter.. no one could resolve the problem. I discovered that on the 4.3 vortec V6 the distributor gear is plastic and wears out. This causes the ECM to malfunction because it cannot adjust for all the play in the gears. When the rotor cap is off, check for play in the rotor. If there is more than a tiny wiggle, or none, that is your problem. I replaced the entire distributor for 89.00 , you could also buy just the gear kit for about 40.00. The truck runs flawlessly now!

Yeah good call!! I forgot bout those nylon gears. These trucks come with a lot of nylon huh? I think even the stock timing gears are made of nylon.

I put a MSD #8366 Distributor in at the tune of $285+ Tax. It is so smooth now.
Thanks For the help.
