Default BBK throttle body....

I don't remember seeing anyone talking about this. I have been wondering if it would be a good mod to upgrade to a bigger better throttle body and I saw the 80mm BBK throttle body on Summit Racing. What is the factory throttle body bore on the stock 4.8 throttle body? Has anyone tried this throttle body out or seen in in action? It's kinda pricey but if it makes a big difference I'd do it.

i was wondering this myself a month or two ago doesnt seem like many people have tried the larger throttle bodies. i have heard that most dont idle properly on aftermarkets but i havent heard anything seriously negative about them either.

There was some talk about this here a long time ago, but they few responses given all said not to waste your money. It seems to me that if the bore is bigger it should be better, but maybe once you get to the intake manifold it slows it back down since it is smaller. Maybe the way to go it a larger bore intake manifold.

Does anyone do an aftermarket performance minded intake manifold?

Hey, I have a BBK for my 06 silverado 5.3 Alluminum. I installed it but it threw off throttle linkage codes. If you have an intake, mass air flow upgrade, or throttle body spacer you can not run it without running a full tune. A power programmer wont do it but you can use a superchip flash tuner and get an update offline. As for intake manifolds the way to go is with a fast intake manifold. Its a little pricey but it is well worth it if you are planning on doing any major mods. http://www.compperformancegroupstore...ry_Code=GENIII

It doesn't look much different. I wonder why it is better. If I was wealthy I wouldn't mind being a guinea pig but that is a little pricy for me to take the risk.

Yeah $1000 for 20 hp is way to much. I would rather do a powerdyne supercharger for $2000, and gain 150+ hp

Powerdyne for $2,000?! I think the cheapest powerdyne supercharger kits I've seen were like $3,000.

Pretty much, for the entire kit anyways.
