Better style for '09??
I need to replace my beloved '03 this year. I would like a new Silverado but really dislike the new box-nosed body design. Does anyone think they will improve the style for '09 or are we stuck with it?
It is not typical for any automaker to switch body styles after one year. Especially GM. There might be some suttle changes in 2 or 3 years. Look for some appearance packages in the near future if you want one of the new ones with a bit more flair though. I'm sure they'll be popping out things such as the SS soon.
Box nose? IMHO GM has put out the best looking truck on the road.
Ha, that reminds me. I was about to offer my opinion of the new Tundra, (specifically the Crewmax model) and I was reminded of the short time I spent as a new car salesman at the local Chevy/GMC dealership.
We had this GM rep who showed up, riding his cloud of glory to expound on us the virtues of the new Chevy truck design vs. the Tundra. Nearly every 'point' he tried to drive home, I was antagonistic enough to shut him down or make him appear foolish.
Quibbles over HP/TQ ratings, payload capacity, tie down locations, folding seats...etc.
Anyway, 72Charger knows what he's saying. Any redesign won't be coming anytime soon. However, I will advise you to keep your eye on ebay, as they generally have a veritable cornucopia of parts and accesories that put any genuine GM parts dealer to shame. Want an SS style front/rear bumper? We got em, and at less than half the price it would have been! You want to swap out the headlights that wouldn't look out of place lighting a sporting stadium past sundown? We got em...
I'm feeling exceptionally long winded this evening.

I second that I like the new Chevy, but I love the new GMC.
Bad2006Z71 - Thats because you modified your 06. Unfortunately if you modified an 07 or 08, I bet it would be equal to your 06 so your not really ahead of the game. Just a different looking truck.
That would be my determining factor for buying a new truck (if I could afford it). It would either have to be a 6.0 Votex Max in a 1500 truck (which they have with GMC) or else I'd wait til they Upped the performance on the 5.3. I know the new 5.3 makes 50 more hp then my truck stock for stock, but not enough for me to make a bigger payment every month. The look of the GMC makes it tempting tho.
