Brake ??
I didn't see any forum specifically for brakes so I asking here. Adims feel free to move if necessary.
I periodically tow a 25ft travel trailer. Although it has electric brakes, they dont work all that great, and shoes for it are basically unavailable from what I am told. (long story). So I am thinking of at least upgrading my brake pads for better grip. I should probably do rotors but it may be one thing at a time. Suggestions for pads????

I would definetly recommend to get the brakes working on the trailer first and good. If you go into any kind of hill terrain you will have brake problems, that is not something that you want to experience. Trust me! Other than that get some bear brakes, I am pretty sure that they make a kit that fits your truck. Going is the easy part, stopping is the key to success.
I realize I should do something about the trailer brakes. They do work somewhat. I was told that being a little older unit, the brakeshoes are out of standard. I am going to look into it a little harder, but as I remember, I would basically have to replace the complete hubs and those are welded on the axles.
I am going to try to find the time to pull things apart and at least clean the magnets with some fine sandpaper to see if they grab better.
I am just thinking better truck brakes will also help.

Never hurts to upgrade the brakes on your truck, but if it is any kind of a load fix the trailer brakes. You may also want to look into a brake retarder or a exhaust retarder. I have no idea if they are available for your truck or not. But if the loads a re heavy enuf then it is worth the research. They will help you save the brakes.
Bringing this back with an update. It turns out that modern brake drums use a 1 1/16" outer bearing and a 1 3/8" inner bearing. Well wouldn't it figure that the axle spindles on my trailer are 1 1/16 - 1 1/4". [:@]
SOOOOOOO I ended up ordering 2 new axle/brake/drum assemblies. I figured it's cheaper than a new camper. And in the big picture, good insurance to try and keep the trailer behind me.
Thanks everybody for the wise words and guidance.
Oh, and Magnaflow cat-back going on the truck tonight or tomorrow. Dual 3" in, single 4" tailpipe with polished, rolled tip.
