I have been meaning to ask you, how do you like the 1500HD? I have been looking at the 2500HD d-max's and am kinda shying away becouse of the price. Honest opinions only please! As far as the brakes go, that's not cool about having to order the new axels. But like you said, it will keep it behind you and now you will be able to get replacement parts for them! I think you will like the maganflow set-up.

I've only had the truck for about 2 months, so I still have some "testing" to do. I honestly wasn't looking for HD model. I was looking for a 1/2 ton, crew cab. I came across this truck with 47,000 milesfor a pretty good price. The past couple of years we have towed my camper trailer to N.C. and into northern GA. I am anxious to see how this truck does towing. I had some other work done to my camper and used the truck one time to tow it home about 45 miles. It's also pretty hilly here. When I brought the camper home I averaged 12 mpg for the round trip. I think one other time I checked mileage and got like 15-17 on a 200 mile trip.
The truck rides a little rougher than I would like, but it's to be expected from a truck like this. I am in Maine where winter does a number on the roads. When I have gotten on fairly smooth roads a few times, then it's not too bad.
The one thing, so far, that I don't like is that steering column rattle that I read is just a little quirk on these trucks.?.? The other quirky issue is the drive by wire throttle. It's pretty touchy on dead start. It's just gonna take some getting used to.
I guess I've rambled enough. I hope I was helpful.

Yeh, let me know how it is for towing. I am still kind of up in the air about getting a diesel, everything that I have read says that the diesel will pay for it self in about 3.5-4 years if you tow often. So I was wondering about the 1500 HD. Just let me know how you like the 6.0 and the chassis on your next long trip. Thanks, Gary

I have recently been wondering why there wasn't a diesel in at least the 1500HDs. That would interest me.

I think it is due to the weight, but the big three are putting smaller diesels in their half tons by 2010.

I think it is because the frame can't take it. I was discussing that with a Dodge friend of mine a year or two ago and he said the Cummins would tear the frame up in a regular Dodge Ram... too much torque. Atleast that's what he said *points finger*.[sm=icon_stickpoke.gif]

That's becouse the cummins is an inline 6 and can be pushed to more hight powerwise than the v-8s. As far as the 1500 HD's with the diesel yes I have heard that. Isuzu has built a new d-max that is like 4.8L I think, so that will be interesting to see what it is about.
