Brake fluid

Replacing rear wheel cylinders and possibly master cylinder on my 97 GMC K1500....What brake fluid is recommended?.I see they are up to Dot 5 now......I am thinking Dot 3.....Its all stock

DOT3 is recommended for the 97 GM Sierra. Don't forget to bench bleed the master before installing (if you replace it)

I know that DOT 3 and 4 are compatible but 5 is not.
