Buying a 99 Silverado
Hello All,
I am buying a 99 Silverado 2500 Short Box. This particular truck will be special. When I take possession, it will have a 2003 6.0L engine that was extracted from wrecked Tow Truck. It should be a pretty awesome truck. My Mechanic tells me that the 6.0L he put in it is the same one used in the Escalades. How much HP will this truck now have? Also, the Truck is pretty basic. It has roll up windows and the bench seat. I want to change all of that with the console and the power doors. I have my eyes on all of the items I need to make the transformation. I haven't been able to determine if there are connections that these will directly connect with. Does anyone know?
Thanks,
GMAN

RE: Buying a 99 Silverado
The 6.0L out of the 2500's has 300 hp but the tuning on the 01's and 02's have 325 hp, then in 03 they stepped up the programming and a slightly higher compression ratio to give them 345. My truck for instance is an 01 C3 so i have 325 hp.

that truck most lightly has the 5.7 litre engines. I assume you will need a pcm for the new engine/ new wiring harness/ new odometer and gauges.
Im not even sure how the new type vortek engine would fit in your truck plus there are more electronics controlling the auto tranny/ i think your heading for a fierce head ache putting the new style engine in.
