The first thing to know is what do you want to do? Cams aren't really designed just to make noise and vibration lol. What gain are you looking for, horsepower or torque and what power range do you want it to run in? You also need to think about exhaust, air intake and such as well as think about what response the computer is going to have.

The tradeout today with computers and the consistency they provide is the fact that the changes you make have to be compatible with the pcm settings or you'll need a power programmer or chip to go with it.

Unfortunately it's a bit more complicated than just installing a new part,

If he wants a good cam and lifter combo, the Lunati Voodoo series are great and not out of this world expensive. I'd give a call to Jegs and see what they recommended. Plus they'll make sure you're aware of everything you need to go with it

Same here. They're more concerned with making sure you get what you need to make it work and give all the combinations to fit any budget. I've tripped up a couple Summit guys in the past insisting that x had to go with y,,,,,,,,,, even though I knew better. Plus, Jegs is always cheaper.

Hey thanks for the info fellas . For the record I am running a aftermarket cold air intake. And to answer your question dragon, I would like the power range to be horsepower mostly because to me I have enough torque and maybe a cam good enough for a run down the strip if the fever hits me haha (maybe) . Another question guys should I upgrade my heads or can that wait?

If you just want hp then get a split duration cam with higher lsa. This will help it idle smoother and also the power will be more in the upper rpm's.
